The Core: Ashland City and the Cheatham Bottoms

Everything inside 37015 is the home patch, and it is small enough that the machine is rarely more than ten minutes from the square: the original plat streets around the courthouse, the ridge streets north and east on their cherty limestone, the Tennessee Waltz Parkway corridor and the river terraces off Old Cumberland Street, and out along Frey Street and Bearwallow Road toward the county line.

That compactness is why the lead time here is three to five working days rather than a fortnight. There is no drive to build a route around. A morning job on Water Street and an afternoon job on a Highway 49 acreage lot fit in the same day without a compromise on either.

The only thing that stretches a date in the core is water. After a Cumberland or Sycamore Creek rise, bottom jobs move back a few days and ridge jobs take their place.

The Twenty-Minute Ring

Pleasant View up Highway 49, Chapmansboro and Cheap Hill north on Highway 12, Joelton east across the Davidson line, and Pegram south to the Harpeth. All four are priced exactly as an in-town job, with no travel line on the invoice and the same three-to-five-working-day lead.

What changes in the ring is the rulebook rather than the rate. Joelton is Metro Nashville with a different electric utility. Pegram and Pleasant View are their own incorporated towns, so Ashland City's tree board has no say there. Chapmansboro is unincorporated county on septic and well, where the hazards under the lawn are all private.

The Long Runs, and How They Are Priced

Kingston Springs is twenty-five minutes south to exit 188, still Cheatham County, and still flat-priced. Clarksville is the outlier: forty-odd miles up Highway 12, near enough an hour each way, and it is the one place where distance shows up in the number.

There, work goes on grouped days and there is a higher minimum on a single small stump. Four stumps, a large hardwood or a steep bank lot absorbs the run and prices normally. One twelve-inch Callery pear does not, and we will say so rather than quote you a padded figure.

Storm and hazard calls ignore all of this. A leaning stub over a driveway gets a same or next day answer whether it is on Vine Street or in Sango.

Where We Stop, and What Happens If You Are Outside

West of Charlotte and Dickson, south past Fairview, east into central Davidson County and north beyond Palmyra, we are no longer the sensible call, and you will be told that on the first phone call rather than after a week of not hearing back.

The exception is difficulty. If a stump is on a bluff bench, a river terrace, a bank above water or somewhere two other outfits have already looked at and left, distance stops being the deciding factor, because that is the work this equipment exists for.
